Anna: This fountain was gifted to the community and was originally located in City Square. During the temperance days the cherub with dressed herring was deemed scandalous, This was made further problematic by the fact that some local brewers filled the fountain with ale as a publicity stunt. The temperance movement were incredibly offended by this so the fountain was moved and blocked off so there could be no repeat of the beer fountain incident.
